KIDS GO ON CAMP

Scripture Union is a Christian Organisation that has been exciting for the past eighty years in South Africa; this organisation offers holiday clubs, Leadership training and Life Skills Programs. This Organisation took fifty five children from Soshanguve and surrounding areas to a camp in Stoney Ridge, Brits for two nights and three days. They left on the 26th in the morning and came back on the 28th in the afternoon, the purpose of this camp was to empower the children and make them aware of the challenges that life has for them, the camp was based on a book called “JIKA GENERATION” and the word of God.

And to also develop the young people, and to reach them decision making skills, self-esteem so that they don’t underestimate or look down upon themselves, character building so that they don’t give-up easily in life. The Organisation uses other books such as “DECIDE RIGHT” which is used for children, who are in grade five to grade nine, and another follow-up book that they use is “MORE RIGHT MOVE”, but above all, they base every teaching or lesson upon the word of God, since this is a Christian Organisation.

One of the children really enjoyed herself is Kamogelo Mangwane from Soshanguve, “The Camp was really nice, I enjoyed myself, made new friends learned how to behave as a teenager, and how to make good decisions as a teenager and I enjoyed the food.” She said
Jonathan Makwela, from Pretoria North also had fun and wished they stayed for more days, even though it was cold “It was a lovely camp, I had a good time and most importantly I learned how to choose my friends as a teenager, self-respect, and to change my life for the better.” He said

Sophie Maboyane is one of the parents are really excited about the opportunity that their children got, and they expect to see good behavior from their children “I would like to thank Scripture Union for making time for our children, and taking them on this camp and teach them according to the word of God, how they should behave and at the same time have fun. She said
Maggie Mamorubela, acting director of Scripture Union in Gauteng North is happy that the kid’s acme in numbers and hopes they practice what they have learned at the camp “The camp was great, though in the morning and evenings was a bit cold but the kids really had fun, they have learned a lot and we hope they will practice what they have learned at the camp.” She said
