The spirit of love and sharing was the order of the day, when the Refugee Aid Organisation from Johannesburg took 150 Refugee kids to the Kings and Queenies, in Roodepoort, Johannesburg in a year end function which was held on the 12th of December 2011.The kids learned about different animals, some learned horse riding and played on jumping castles, while others enjoyed making friends. The kids were encouraged to look after themselves this festive season, and be careful who they associate themselves with and always report whenever they leave.
The organisation has a strong believe for education and empowering young people, that is why it decided to buy backpacks as a Christmas present, for every child who went to the trip. The backpacks had pencil case, sweets, balloons and hats.
11 year old Janice Nsuzu, from the Democratic Republic of Congo explained how happy she was about the trip “I really had a good time; I had fun and made new friends. I was a little bit scared in the morning, but as the day went on I relaxed and eventually everything was good” She said.
One of the parents from Ghana, who volunteers at the centre Mrs Natalie Bonga couldn’t stop praising the good work that the Organisation does. “The organisation does a good job with our children, what they did today was good. This shows the spirit of love and that they care about us, even though we are not South Africans.” Said Mrs. Bonga
The Organisation would like to send out this message to all South Africans Christmas is all about and caring for other people, loving and most of all sharing the little you have with you family and friends.
Miss Nozipho Ncube further explained how this has been a long year “ This year has been a very difficult year for us, as an organisation and we would like to thank everyone whose supported us and took part in every function we've had. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy new year, and God bless you all” Said Miss Nozipho Ncube
