Amogelang Comes Back Home

Amogelang's mother shared tears of joy when she welcomed
his son at OR.TAMBO International Airport.
Amogelang Davids is one of the children who were part of the International Children’s Outreach Ministry in Soshanguve that took a group of children to the United States of America for six weeks.

The programme takes children to the United States of America for cultural exchange and to learn the American way of living. When they are in the USA, each child stays with his or her adoptive parents for the whole period of six weeks. Amogelang and the group left on the 20 of June and came back on the 5 July 2012.

His parents are very happy to have him back home but his adoptive parents Linah and Malvin Link in North Carolina, USA really liked the 14 year old and even considered adopting him. This came as a surprise to his parents but they said they were happy with their boy here at home and the issue of him being adopted is the last thing on their minds.

Amogelang’s mother, Bridgette Davids said she was happy to have his son back home.

“I am really happy to have him back; the house was not the same without him. I hope to see positive results from him,” she said.

Amogelang was also happy to be back.  “North Carolina was really good, and I had a good time there. But it feels good to be back home, I missed my mom’s cooking and my siblings,” he said.

He is still suffering from jetlag and the fact that he has a lot of catching up to do with school work. The Deputy Principal of Rodney Mokoena Preparatory School Mr Cry Mmakola said they have plans set in place for Amogelang.

“We have a programme called (ESSP) Extra School Support Programme, which is place for the leaner. Some of his work will be done here at school; we have spoken to the parents to assist us as well, so everything is in place,” he said
